DHL Once Again Chooses ADT to Install an Advanced Security Solution
07 December 2007

ADT has installed one of the sector's most innovative security systems in Vallés. The solution provides a local security management platform based on ADT's access control system, C•Cure 800®, which integrates with the external and internal closed circuit television (CCTV) monitoring system. The solution also boasts intruder alarm systems for both the industrial and office buildings as well as around the perimeter; a staff and visitor flow management system; a number-plate recognition system and a system of barriers for vehicles.

Local management of this electronic security solution will help the centre supervisors to reduce losses, generate confidence in clients, create a secure environment for staff and manage the risks involved in the storage and distribution of merchandise.

In addition to the security applications, the 200-plus cameras located at strategic points inside and outside the warehouse will also help to improve the management of warehousing operations. The ability to record and intelligently manage CCTV images using ADT's Intellex® system will help optimise operational times by supervising the vehicles leaving the depot, ensuring that merchandise is handled correctly and in compliance with DHL's policies.

Integration with DHL’s global security management

This solution for the local management of the logistics centre is, in turn, connected to the Integral Platform for global security management used by DHL’s Control Centre in Madrid. ADT also provided the technology for this platform, which allows the Security Department to supervise and remotely manage DHL’s various industrial buildings throughout Spain.

The idea behind this solution is to help ensure that DHL Express in Vallés can obtain the prestigious “A” Certificate from the Transported Asset Protection Association (TAPA), which has the most stringent security requirements for this area in Spain.

“At DHL we have been attempting for years to offer security levels in line with our high standards of quality of service and which will exceed the expectations of our clients, particularly  technology customers,” says Miguel Merino, Director of Corporate Security for DHL Express Iberia. “This large-scale investment in security, as part of our worldwide ‘First Choice’ programme of excellence, will allow us to increase our competitive edge even further, so that we will continue to be our clients' first choice,” adds Mr Merino.

Ignacio Cuenca, Marketing Manager for ADT Spain and Portugal, states: “Our continued relationship with DHL is very important to us. We know how high their security standards are, and our technology means that we can meet them and offer advanced applications for the operational management of the centre. Together with the Integral Platform for overall security control that we installed in their central offices, the solution designed for the logistics centre in Vallés is unique in the sector and will not only help to reduce loss but also generate confidence among clients and employees.”
