ADT Spain wins AVON Contract

Avon, one of the leading global cosmetics companies with over $10 billion in annual revenue and the world's largest direct seller, markets its products to women in more than 100 countries through approximately 6.2 million independent Avon Sales Representatives. Avon's product line includes beauty products, as well as fashion and home products, and features well-recognized brand names such as Avon Color, Anew, Skin-So-Soft, Advance Techniques and Avon Naturals. ADT Spain’s bespoke solution for Avon incorporates access control, presence Control, CCTV, intruder detection and intercom systems installed throughout their logistics plant Alcalá de Henare in Madrid. The site previously only had a video and intruder detection system which was very old and obsolete and had limited capability. The project which is to be completed in three phases may require further solutions to be incorporated.

Well done to : Miguel Ángel Jaén, Key Account Manager and Jorge Muñoz, Sales Engineer from ADT Spain.

ADT Spain and New Retailer to Europe Ardene Working Together

Ardene is a Canadian apparel retailer with more than 400 shops in Canada, and is now expanding into Europe. The retailer has started up in Spain as the first country where they have established outlets and also their European headquarters. In the second half of 2010 they opened 12 stores and during the next 5 years they are planning to grow this to 200 stores in Spain and Portugal. ADT Spain has installed EAS anti-theft systems in all the stores using the Ultra-Exit systems, Ultra-Tags and detachers, and will soon be commencing with a source tagging programme using the VST for their garments.

Within the first store in the Xanadú shopping centre in Madrid ADT has installed a video system using the Intellex which is currently being tested and is likely to result in a wider rollout of video systems across the other stores. This is being supported with intruder detection systems for all stores that have an exit to the street. Ardene selected ADT because they wanted to work with a global supplier of retail security solutions that can support them in all their stores worldwide. They are a fast growing retailer and needed to partner with a company that can meet their requirements for EAS, source tagging video, intruder detection, etc., and recognized our reputation as a global security provider.

Well done to : Miguel Ángel Herrero, Account Manager Retail for winning this new customer.

ADT Spain Protects Michelin Plants

With 72 production facilities in 19 countries producing more than 150 million tyres and revenues in excess of € 14.8 billion, Michelin is a global leading tyre manufacturer. ADT Sapin has renewed and extended the video solution at the company’s Valladolid Plant to meet their needs and to expand the operation. On initial inspection of the site it was found that many of the cameras were obsolete, in fact some had been installed by ADT in 1997, and whilst they had been maintained well, the cameras were at the end of their life cycle and no longer met the requirements of the expanding plant. Therefore it required a renewal of the CCTV security system, which included 11 Ultra Domes, 15 fixed cameras with outdoor housing and a range of anti-vandal minim-domes.

The cameras are managed by an Intellex digital video management system (DVMS) which is also being maintained by ADT. ADT is also working on other Michelin location including the Aranda Plant where we have expanded the video solution with extra mini domes and an Intellex DVMS, and now are also working to secure the Lasarte Plant in Guipúzcoa situated in the autonomous Basque Country, with a video and perimeter protection required as the site is being redesigned. The customer selected ADT because they were very pleased with the service that ADT has provided since the fist installation in 1997, as a result of the strong working relationship between our engineer and Michelin’s procurement and security departments and of course by ensuring the solution was the best for their needs.

Well done to the technical team who helped to make this a successful project : Roberto Antón (Technical Supervisor Central region) and Chechu Rebollo,Tecnician, who were also praised by Michelin’s security department.

ADT Supports Reclassering Nederland in electronic tagging scheme

ADT Netherlands has been chosen by Reclassering Nederland to provide electronic ankle bands for newly released convicts. The bands will help authorities track the parolees while helping them re-enter Dutch society as productive, law-abiding citizens. Reclassering Nederland authorities decided to evaluate ADT’s solution because, more and more, judges are deciding that electronic tracking is a better than imprisonment both for the convicts and for society. ADT supplies the ankle bands themselves, and also the services for monitoring people wearing them. Reclassering Nederland’s main goal is to ensure convicts are complying with the regulations set when they start wearing the tag.

The programme aides this process. After a successful pilot phase of the technology, the Dutch penal system also chose ADT to ensure compliance with parole requirements via GPS satellite transmission to its alarm control centre. The ankle bands automatically generate an alarm in case wearers enter a forbidden area or try to sabotage the band. Subsequently the specialists in the ADT alarm control centre take care that the measures, which have been individually agreed upon for each person under surveillance, are being adhered to.

Well done to Henk van ‘t Hul, Account manager vertical Justice/Police, supported by Paul Verbruggen, Manager Technical Support the Netherlands and Sidney Lander, Technical Support Engineer.

Benelux has European scoop on NaviStor® as part of Sensormatic Analytics®

The franchise organization of HEMA, is the first in Europe to use the NaviStor® module by ADT Sensormatic Analytics®. This platform identi¬fies conspicuous transactions based on benchmarking and trending. The solution has been operational in the United States for over ten years, but this is the first win in Europe. The first test in a few HEMA-franchise stores was successfully completed, which led to the wider rollout. The principle of this Store Performance Solution is based on a statistical analysis of all POS data. The basis of Sensormatic Analytics is the ability to analyze large amounts of data and concisely display it as easily useable intelligence. By using Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) a retailer can for example sort, filter and order data and keep the scores .

In this way the software package makes it possible for ADT customers to quickly and simply identify critical areas of their operation that are in need of attention and improvement. The NaviStor® module also provides ADT customers with reports on exceptions that occur at the checkout. The system indicates, among others, positive as well as negative POS activities that require action, and it analyzes checkout personnel that might need training. The system is able to e-mail reports on exceptions to the right people. The NaviStor® also provides retailers with graphic information on shop trends per department and checkout employee. Through the NaviStor® integrated data mining software package it is possible to quickly analyse data, isolate trends, and rapidly and accurately implement any operational measures. HEMA now has much more insight in how to operate more efficiently. They can now instruct their employees according to their behavior and increase their individual productivity.

Well done to : Bert Jan van ‘t Zelfde, Manager Strategic Accounts Retail and the local Dutch NaviStor® team It is a great management tool with a short ROI

ADT Expands Its Global Relationship with GE Healthcare, Winning First Security Project in the UK

Expanding on its existing relationship with GE Healthcare, ADT won the first of several customer projects in the UK, starting in 2011.GE Healthcare's broad range of products and services enable healthcare providers to better diagnose and treat cancer, heart disease and neurological diseases earlier. Headquartered in the UK, GE Healthcare is a $17 billion unit of the General Electric Company (GE).

GE Healthcare currently uses an antiquated and unreliable stand-alone access control system which does not meet GE’s global security standard. It contracted ADT to help it update its security systems at this UK location. GE Healthcare’s standard security equipment includes the GE/UTC Facility Commander access control platform along with the GE/UTC Digital Video Recorders and rugged dome cameras. These systems will be linked to GE Healthcare’s Global Enterprise Security System based in the US. With this new upgrade, GE Healthcare in the UK will not only be able to provide a safe and secure environment for their employees, but will also have the ability to control and audit access to all of the critical high-risk areas of their facility. This is an important win for ADT, as it is the first project with GE Healthcare in the UK.

ADT has been building the global relationship with the customer over the past few years with project wins in Germany, Mexico, Russia and the US. The coordinated team approach coupled with past successes with other GE divisions, proved to be key factors in winning this opportunity. This win demonstrated close teamwork between Steve Robinson, Global Account Manager based in the UK, with US-based colleagues Tim Lynch, National Account Manager, Edward Giorgetti and Tom Clark, Program Managers, and Chad Smith, Perry Speegle and Justin Glass, Applications Managers. Latin America ADT Awarded Integrated Security Contract with AMETEK in Mexico

ADT won a significant security contract with AMETEK in northern Mexico. AMETEK is a leading global manufacturer of electronic instruments and electromechanical devices with annual sales of $2.1 billion. ADT is currently providing services for 24 AMETEK locations in North America. The customer attended an ADT webinar on Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards (CFATS) which sparked an interest in exploring more of ADT’s global capabilities. As AMETEK had some major security concerns about two northern Mexico manufacturing facilities, ADT was invited to conduct a complete site assessment. This led to an opportunity for ADT to provide a quote for an integrated security solution to address AMETEK’s main concerns. The customer wanted to reinforce the building entrances with turnstiles as well as to increase the overall security level of the facility. AMETEK had received threats from local gangs as well as drug cartels operating in the area.

The proposed solution consisted of Kantech’s access control system, Alvarado full height turnstiles, American Dynamics video surveillance system and Honeywell’s intrusion detection panel. The access control and videos surveillance systems will monitor the interior of the facility as well as the perimeter. This is ADT’s first global project with AMETEK outside of the US. The project has proceeded very smoothly and demonstrates the teamwork across ADT Advanced Integration, ADT Global Accounts and ADT Mexico. ADT won this contract based on its competitive pricing, integrated solution set and its local presence in Northern Mexico. Key contacts and contributors to this win include Matthew Pfeiffer, International Sales Manager, Patricio Gonzalez, Regional Global Account Manager and Brian Walker, National Account Manager, Western Region. ADT Wins Large Security Contract with Mattel Distribution Center in Mexico

ADT will provide leading toymaker Mattel with a comprehensive video surveillance security solution to protect its distribution center in northern Mexico. Mattel, Inc. is the worldwide leader in the design, manufacture and marketing of toys and family products, including best-selling brands Barbie®, Hot Wheels®, Matchbox®, American Girl®, Radica® and Fisher-Price® brands. ADT Mexico will install an indoor and outdoor video surveillance system designed to provide extensive coverage of the perimeter fence line and keep a watchful eye on other key positions from the roof of the facility. This is a heavily used distribution center for all of Mexico. Special planning went into the security design to allow for railroad access and the protection of the multiple roll-up doors.

The contracted security system includes a combination of American Dynamics equipment: 15 indoor/outdoor fixed and Pan Tilt Zoom cameras and a 16-channel Intellex Digital Video Management System. The system will provide the customer with extensive perimeter video protection and many months worth of recorded video. ADT was awarded this contract due its existing relationship with Mattel in the US. A new Vice President of Global Security joined Mattel, who previously worked for Honda, one of ADT’s US-based customers. Mattel now wants to deploy ADT solutions globally. The installation in Mexico will serve as the catalyst to expand ADT’s footprint with Mattel to other global locations. Mattel provided ADT with a strict budget that could not exceed the given amount. This was particularly challenging as the first design was considerably higher than the budgeted amount. ADT is positioned to be the sole global provider for Mattel. The video surveillance solution will both help protect Mattel’s employees, visitors and the distribution center. Key contacts and contributors to this win include Daryl Haga and Chadwick Smith from the US-based Center of Excellence, Gordon Lang, International Sales Manager, Patricio Gonzalez, Regional Global Account Manager and Brian Walker, National Account Manager, Western Region. For more information, contact Jesus Escarmilla, Sales Executive Mexico, at jescamilla@tycoint.com.

ADT Armourguard Awarded a Five-Year Contract to Provide Total Security Services for New Plymouth District Council in New Zealand

ADT Armourguard will provide a full breadth of security services for the New Plymouth District Council in New Zealand over a five-year period. New Plymouth District Council (NPDC) is a mid-sized New Zealand territorial local authority, which administers a range of services to nearly 70,000 people in the Taranaki region. The council was looking for a security company that could provide the total range of services across all of its business units. NPDC was also looking for a security partner with the ability to provide integrated electronic and manpower solutions. ADT Amourguard will provide both the electronic security installation and the maintenance services.

Contracted security services include: alarm monitoring; after-hours call centre management; mobile patrols; static guards; events security; cash collection; and noise control response. NPDC will benefit by having all of their security services delivered by a single provider. ADT Amourguard will cover all the needed security requirements from account management to administration services. Detailed reports will be produced for all of the council’s 21 business unit managers. This win complements another recent local body security contract win in the Taranaki region. ADT Amourguard now provides security services to all three of the region’s local councils. The NPDC win is strategically significant because it further strengthens ADT’s leading position in the region as the largest security provider. Competition is fierce in New Zealand’s security services market and it is important to note that price was not the deciding factor in this win. The contract was won on the strength of ADT Armourguard’s ability to provide all security services and its reputation for providing high quality, value added service. ADT Amourguard is the only company in New Zealand able to provide such a complete security offering. North America ADT Installs Multi-Layered Security System for The University of the Sciences in Philadelphia in the US

ADT has installed a layered security system, including video, access control and emergency mass notification, on the campus of the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia (USP). The University of the Sciences in Philadelphia was founded in 1821 as the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy, the first school of pharmacy in North America. The campus serves 2,600 undergraduate students and 370 graduate students. The security installation will help USP better protect its population and meet federal requirements calling for universities to give timely warnings of potentially dangerous situations on campus. The recently installed system began with a security risk assessment which revealed aging video and emergency phone systems, as well as a lack of access control at critical entry points.

USP now has about 60 IP and analog cameras that provide exterior coverage for the majority of the 35-acre campus located in downtown Philadelphia. The new cameras also include video analytics that allow the department to create predefined virtual borders that can generate an alarm if crossed, which is used most often at night, at the main campus entry. The new access control system helps protect all building entries with a card reader that provides students and faculty after-hours access when appropriate. Card readers are installed at the entry to many interior rooms, such as laboratories. The three on-campus residence halls are also protected with card readers. The outdoor emergency notification system consists of seven speaker towers, one wall-mounted speaker array and two emergency telephone stations across the campus.

The system allows university officials to share warning sirens and recorded or live instructions to be followed in case of a natural or man-made emergency. It also meets the notification requirements of the federal Cleary Act passed in the wake of the 2007 Virginia Tech massacre. Cameras located atop the nine emergency phone stations enable officers in the campus dispatch center to see who is making the call while communicating via voice. ADT was chosen because they provided a long-term strategic partnership that helped the USP accomplish its security goals. For more information, contact Randy Trego, ADT Advanced Integration, at rtrego@adt.com.

ADT Wins Electronic Security Contract with Pennsylvania’s PinnacleHealth

ADT was chosen as the security integrator for PinnacleHealth’s adoption of an IP-based video and access control system. Non-profit PinnacleHealth is the leading hospital and healthcare system in Central Pennsylvania, offering services from prenatal to geriatrics for over 130 years. In order to maintain the diverse security needs of emergency departments, nurseries, pharmacies, patient care areas, hospital grounds and parking facilities, hospitals require cohesive, multi-layered solutions that use the latest innovations in electronic security technology. Currently, Pinnacle’s system transmits video from Honeywell and Bosch analog cameras. Those streams are transmitted over Pinnacle’s network to 17 dedicated camera servers spread between the three hospitals and the outpatient site.

The cameras are monitored and managed through a Honeywell Digital Video Manager and recorded onto servers. All video is recorded continuously. From the control room of Harrisburg Hospital, a security officer continuously monitors cameras overlooking entries to the lobby and emergency department. Other cameras throughout the campus can be viewed as required by events. The three other PinnacleHealth facilities maintain their own video servers as recorders to maximize efficiencies on the organization’s wide area network. Video can be retrieved and reviewed in the main security control room as necessary. Security officers also monitor access control alarms, panic buttons and an infant protection system. Since the video moves over the hospital’s network, PinnacleHealth’s IT department has been fully involved from the beginning of the switch to an IP-based system.

ADT has provided personnel to be on the hospital campus as Pinnacle requires. The Pinnacle and ADT IP teams worked closely to get the system installed and have continued to do so to keep it operating at peak performance. The security system includes more than 600 card readers and a host of other innovative systems designed to meet the special needs of a large and growing healthcare organization. PinnacleHealth officials are always open to new uses of their wireless access capabilities. For example, government regulations require the hospital to keep track of the contents and access to 35 mobile anesthesia carts. ADT placed wireless access control readers on each cart. ADT was selected as the main security provider due to the breadth of solutions offered and has become a true partner with PinnacleHealth, furthering ADT’s vertical market expansion into the healthcare sector. For more information, contact Shane Meenan, ADT Advanced Integration at smeenan@adt.com.
