Zero Harm” to Emphasize Our Worldwide Commitment to Employee Safety and to the EnvironmentLast year we launched Tyco’s “umbrella” vision to bring together the three key global initiatives relating to Environment, Health and Safety, under the theme of Zero Harm. Zero Harm incorporates these three strategic focus areas and their various initiatives relating to :
EnvironmentMany of you will be aware of our environmental programme Project Greenfoot which began in 2008 to raise awareness of environmental issues within our operations and to put into place effective measures to reduce our overall carbon footprint. This initiative was embraced right across the CE region and became highly recognised for the great work everybody could get involved with. This has led to celebrations around the region for Earth Day in 2009 and 2010 and implementation of ‘Treasure Hunts’ which enable us to identify areas of energy and environmental wastage and reduce them. Soon after we launched Project Greenfoot, Tyco launched the Vital World programme, which has the same objectives as Project Greenfoot. Therefore we have decided that Project Greenfoot should be aligned with Vital World and we will be re-naming and re-branding to Vital World in the coming weeks. Health & WellnessThis is a new initiative to raise awareness of health issues for all of our employees. In the coming weeks and months you will hear more about what we can do to be more health conscious and how Tyco is helping us lead a health balanced life. In our Teamwork & Culture section you can read about how ADT Spain has already introduced educational ‘Breakfast Health Seminars’ for its employees. SafetyEveryday right across our business accidents are taking place and our employees are suffering as a result, which is why we all need to take safety very seriously. I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has always taken workplace safety seriously and has contributed to our significant progress over recent years but we still have more work to do and will be introducing more initiatives to enhance our safety records and protect our employees. By supporting the zero harm vision, we will emphasize ADT’s already strong commitment to workplace safety, health and environmental responsibility. It will also help towards improving employee morale, boost productivity and help to protect the environment in which we work and live, for us all and our families. Zero harm spans all of Tyco and all of ADT Worldwide. The vision can only be delivered if there is a top-down and bottoms-up effort across our entire company. It involves not only our leadership but every employee in the business whether in the field, in an office, in a monitoring centre, even at home. |
