ADT Awarded New Contract With Abercrombie & Fitch For First Spanish Flagship StoreExpanding on an existing relationship, ADT was chosen by Abercrombie & Fitch to provide our security solutions in their first flagship store in Spain. The store will open later this summer in one of Madrid’s most emblematic locations. Abercrombie & Fitch is a popular American retailer that focuses on casual wear. It has over 300 locations in the US and is expanding internationally. The company also operates three offshoot brands: abercrombie (childrenswear), Hollister Co., and Gilly Hicks. It entered the European market in 2007 with the London flagship store. Since then, the company has opened stores in Italy, Denmark and France. Belgian, German and Irish flagship stores will open later in 2011, in addition to the Spanish one. Intrusion detection, EAS and CCTV are part of the contracted solution and have been chosen to fit in with the store’s branding and aesthetics. Our systems will cover sales and non-sales areas of the store to prevent and reduce shop-lifting and help with the supervision and management of all operations. ADT ‘s experience with the customer’s three Hollister stores in Spain helped us understand their business and requirements and win this new project. Well done to our colleagues in Spain: Israel Alcazar, Key Account Manager, and Eugenio Nombela, Project Engineer.
ADT Wins Contract With American Fashion Retailer For New Store Opening in SpainADT won a new project with Forever 21, an existing customer in the US, to install the full pack of security systems in their new store in Spain. Forever 21 is a fast-growing chain of American retailers, featuring new and exciting store environments and creative clothing designs. The chain was founded in Los Angeles, California in 1984 and has since expanded its presence across the globe averaging 90 store openings every year in North America, Asia, Middle East and Europe. The contracted security solution includes CCTV, EAS, intrusion detection and access control to help keep customers and employees safe as well as prevent and reduce shop lifting. The customer’s positive experience with ADT in the US, the quality of our systems and the warranty we offer were the winning factors in this important project. Congratulations to Alex Folch, Account Manager, and Guillermo Ballester, Sales Manager.
ADT Renews Contract with DRUNI to Upgrade Security System in 180 ShopsMaintaining a 12-year relationship with Druni helped ADT Spain renew our contract to upgrade the security system already installed in their stores, from Promax to UltraExit 24. DRUNI are a Spanish chain of shops specialising in perfume, cosmetic and personal care products. The company was founded in Carlet, Valencia, in 1987 and have 180 shops and 1000 employees in Spain. ADT’s previous excellent post-sale service to the customer gave us a clear advantage over the competition and contributed to this win. In addition, what made our proposition stand out was that our EAS system is not influenced by metal, as it usually happens, especially in RF technology, and can effectively detect the security label at the store exit. As 60% of perfumes have some metallic elements on their packaging, it’s important to the customer to have an effective security system in place to prevent shop lifting. Well done to Carlos Matarranz, Key Account Manager, Spain, for fostering a longstanding positive relationship with the customer and renewing our contract. ![]() ADT Beats Strong Competition to Win Complex Installation Project With EnagasADT Spain stood out among ten strong competitors and won a new customer, Enagas, for a complex installation project. Enagás is the Technical Manager of the Gas System and Common Carrier for the high pressure gas network in Spain. Its facilities include more than 9,000km of high-pressure gas pipeline throughout Spain, two underground natural gas storages and three regasification plants. This is our first project with Enagas and covers integrated system solutions for access control, intrusion and CCTV, all managed from a control centre. Gas hazardous areas make the installation technically complex, but the customer was confident we have the tools and expertise to pull this through successfully. Jorge Muñoz Bonilla, Utilities Sales Engineer, understood the customer’s needs and offered the best possible solution for them in terms of technical equipment. Well done Jorge! ![]() Abercrombie Chooses ADT to Protect their New Dusseldorf Flagship StoreIn 2009, ADT Germany was awarded the first of seven orders to protect a Hollister store in Frankfurt. A few years later, having provided a great customer experience helped our German team expand this account by winning a tender for the installation of security solutions in the Abercrombie & Fitch flagship store in Dusseldorf. Abercrombie & Fitch is a popular American retailer that focuses on casual wear. It has over 300 locations in the US and is expanding internationally. Hollister is a company of Abercrombie & Fitch and Global Account Customer of Tyco. Intrusion detection, Intercom at the entrance and a CCTV system (worth €182k, including a control room with five CCTV surveillance monitors) are part of the security solution that will be installed in the store, in time for its December opening. Furthermore, ADT will install an access control system and EAS (a floor antenna FloorMax) worth €27k. All systems will be monitored from our alarm receiving centre. Congratulations Markus Mikuta, ADM Core, Wolfgang Strauss, Account Manager, and Ahmet Kaynar, Project Leader. ![]() ADT Germany to Help Run Cologne HospitalThanks to a longstanding relationship with the city of Cologne, ADT were chosen to equip a hospital in the city with new Medicall® systems. Merheim Clinic’s facilities will be hosted in a new building rented out to the City of Cologne by owner Vamed. The current systems in Merheim Clinic reach from medifon 2000 and medifon 2010 up to the actual system, Medicall® 800. These systems will be implemented in all stations of the new building in addition to a connection from Avaya to DECT, a central protocol of all incidents and bedwise speech. Even though Vamed are the building owners, the city of Cologne was responsible for fixing the contract requirements and choosing a partner for the nursecall system. Our excellent relationship with them, which goes back to 1975 with continuous service in the last 15 years, was a key winning factor. Well done Wilfried Detmer, Germany.
ADT Deploys Fully Integrated Video and Security Solution at Dublin Airport's New TerminalSITA has selected ADT to deliver a fully-integrated security and access control solution within Dublin Airport’s new Terminal 2 (T2). T2 opened its doors in November 2010 and has the capacity to handle more than 30 million passengers each year. The €395m terminal opens up a new gateway between Ireland and the US. Working with partners Tyco and Meyertech, ADT has helped T2 visitors have a safe and pleasant experience travelling through the airport. ADT is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of the airport’s video surveillance and security systems as well as the support and maintenance. The IP-based solution provides an interface between analogue and digital systems, which is then integrated with the terminal’s IT network. As a result, T2 has digital recording, alarms, building management, telephony and passenger screening, all operating on one consolidated network. With more than 600 video cameras and using H.264 video encoders for IP based recording, ADT has delivered one of the world’s most advanced video management systems. The solution integrates video, access control, building management, baggage handling, and fire alarm systems into a digital control room that provides a consolidated view of all of these critical T2 systems. To further strengthen air transport links between Ireland and the US, Dublin Airport is also using the integrated system to support a new facility with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), which provides passenger clearance in Ireland on departing flights to the US. This allows a fluid transition to the U.S. immigration and customs service on arrival; improving the border control process and heightening passenger flow” efficiency levels. A comprehensive security solution was required for T2. It needed to integrate with a number of critical airport systems intended to run over the newly designed network, as well as integrate with legacy systems and be controlled from a consolidated central point for better management. ADT was chosen for this project due to its reputation for providing high quality systems in the safety and security market. It was the ideal choice for SITA to partner with ADT for the design, implementation, and support of the video security system. Later planned phases of the system will help protect critical infrastructure in one of the nation’s largest ports and home to the fourth largest oil reserve and 29 chemical companies. The city of Freeport is basically an island that is home to assets of critical importance to the nation’s economy. Freeport is a city within the Houston–Sugar Land–Baytown metropolitan area situated in Southeast Texas. The project’s first phase, expected to take two months to complete, will include a wireless mesh network to transmit video from IP-based cameras located throughout the city and to be recorded in city hall and monitored 24/7 in the nearby Freeport Police Department headquarters. The first cameras will monitor a large apartment complex, where drug trafficking, vandalism and illegal dumping have been a concern. The system, when completed, also will monitor Freeport’s public marina, providing boat owners with the capability to log onto an Internet site to check the security of their boats. An access control system will be installed to limit entry to the docks. The second phase of the project will add cameras to monitor three bridges that provide the only vehicular access to the city located between the Gulf of Mexico and an intra-coastal waterway. At that time, major chemical companies are also expected to link their surveillance cameras to provide a system capable of monitoring a larger area. Later phases will expand the system to cover a sports complex, area high schools and the downtown shopping district. The entire multimillion dollar project is expected to be completed in 2012. Funding for the system will come from federal grants, the Freeport Economic Development Corp., Port Freeport, the local port authority, and the city’s major petrochemical companies. This is a situation where the politicians, business owners and the area’s chemical companies are all pulling together for the benefit of the entire city. Its Canadian headquarters, located in Oakville, Ontario, oversees 3,750 fast food restaurants, including 3,148 in Canada and 602 in the United States. Founded in 1968, Darden Restaurants owns and operates more than 1,800 restaurants – including Red Lobster, Olive Garden, LongHorn Steakhouse, The Capital Grille, Bahama Breeze and Seasons 52 – employing about 180,000 people, and generating $7 billion in annual sales. Through the early 1990s, Darden Restaurants suffered from an increasing number of robberies that represented a threat to the safety of customers and employees and lost revenue. False intrusion alarms were also a growing concern throughout the company’s locations. ADT installed a variety of electronic security equipment at Darden restaurants to bring existing devices to their highest operational levels. Darden security officials also developed new policies and procedures that, combined with manager training, began to have a dramatic impact on reducing the rate of robberies. Through new equipment, policies and procedures, Darden and ADT have been able to reduce restaurant robberies significantly – falling from 144 across 1,200 restaurants in 1994 to only two in more than 1,800 locations in fiscal year 2010. Since each robbery required the restaurant to close as police investigated, the reduction saved the company hundreds of thousands of dollars in lost revenue. And it has helped to keep Darden’s customers and employees safer. Once they addressed the robbery situation, ADT provided Darden officials with daily reports showing intrusion alarm activity by specific restaurant, date, time, zone and/or authorized user. Armed with that knowledge, Darden was able to pinpoint problems and instruct both managers and employees in the correct use of the systems. Also, through its maintenance agreement with ADT, Darden can keep each restaurant system working at peak capability to reduce equipment-related false alarms..False intrusion alarms can be a major added expense as many municipalities now charge businesses for sending law enforcement officers to investigate alarm activations that prove to be false. With ADT’s help in identifying the cause of false alarms and maintaining equipment in peak condition, Darden has reduced false alarms by 10 to 15 per cent annually. New policies and procedures are aimed at reducing employee error that can cause false alarms. Darden recognizes that good security is good business and has taken a leadership role among businesses to identify the causes and seek to prevent false alarms. ADT recently expanded its agreement, becoming the sole supplier of video surveillance systems for all of Carrefour’s stores in Spain. Over the past 40 years, the Carrefour group has grown to become the largest retailer in Europe and the second largest worldwide. Carrefour currently operates over 15,000 stores and franchises. Benelux has European scoop on NaviStor® as part of Sensormatic Analytics®The franchise organization of HEMA, is the first in Europe to use the NaviStor® module by ADT Sensormatic Analytics®. This platform identi¬fies conspicuous transactions based on benchmarking and trending. The solution has been operational in the United States for over ten years. Now, it is a scoop for Europe: NaviStor®, part of Sensormatic Analytics®. The first test in a few HEMA-franchise stores has been successfully completed. This has led to further phasing in other parts of the organization. The principle of this Store Perfomance Solution is based on a statistical analysis of all POS data. By comparing all individual cash transactions to averages, any discrepancy stands out immediately. For example, HEMA expected much more discipline from their cashiers than turned out to be the case. Now that you are able to analyze every hit on the keyboard, it is surprising what you can discover. Knowing the results, it allowed HEMA to act upon it. It is a great management tool that earns back the money invested within no time. Shortly after implementation results per month already started showing the adapted instructions. Every night, data from approximately 1,300 HEMA checkouts is processed via the package. The fact that the solution enables the detection of actions that do not lead to direct cash differences, is what makes it special. There is not only an option to detect fraud, but also positive points stand out: the cashiers with the fewest false attacks or the highest productivity. Often a manager had a certain good feeling about it, but now that good feeling may be supported by objective data. Even afterwards, the Store Perfomance Solution is able to signal fraudulent and other remarkable things. The whole project is based around value proposition. Thanks to the efforts of Bert Jan van ‘t Zelfde, Manager Strategic Accounts Retail and the local Dutch NaviStor® team, an organization like HEMA now has much more insight in how to operate more efficiently. They can now instruct their employees according to their personal behavior, increasing the value of their input. |
